This is a list of software I use, plan on using or will not use again.I keep this list because good software is hard to find and when I move to a new machine or need to reinstall I like to know what I usually install on that machine.

Software In Use
Software that has survived daily use for a week or more. These are applications that I prefer to have installed on my machine.-
Perl for windows. I use perl for quick-and-dirty file manipulation scripts.

Anti-ad/spyware. I also use Spybot, below.

Antivirus just in case.

DivX playback.

I use this when sorting out old files, searches for duplicate files.

One of the two browsers I use on Windows.

Just because it's fun to play with.

Media player for when I just want a plain media player with no frills.

Office suite for when I don't have Office, it’s a little painful to use but usually good enough.

Excellent paint program, supports just enough so that I don't need photoshop.

Aside from Visual Studio for development, I use this as my standard text editor.

Python for windows. My more complicated scripts are usually Python.

Media player for all things Apple.

I use Safari on Mac so it's familiar.

Anti-ad/spyware. I also use Ad-Aware, above.

Version Control System, it’s cross-platform and what I use at home.

BitTorrent client, I used to use this all of the time before I found Xtorrent for Mac. If I had to use a Windows client, this would be it.

Another media player, usually the one I go to for esoteric formats.

Windows directory statistics to help you find out why you have no hard drive space.

I use this application to print Dungeon & Dragons 4th edition power cards.
